Students for Storyteller

Local students come together to support Storyteller Children's Center

Santa Barbara High School Students for Storyteller

With the leadership of SBHS Sophomore Lane Peus, SBHS has established a student club to support Storyteller Children's Center. Over 20 students have already joined, with the goal of raising money for and awareness of Storyteller's important mission.  SBHS 4 Storyteller has kicked off the club with a successful bake sale in December. In early 2018, they plan to do a warm clothing drive at Santa Barbara High School. The students plan on keeping the club going for many years and hope to make a long-term impact. The club meets once a month during lunch period. They have created an Instagram page @SBHS4STORYTELLER and a plan to use social media for outreach and to help grow the club's membership. The funds raised this school year will go toward the purchase of new playground equipment at Storyteller's State Street site. SBHS 4 Storyteller will also help on the playground to engage with the children as mentors.

"My Mom, Lizzie Peus, has been actively involved with Storyteller since 2003, and I deeply understand that our club is helping a good local cause and can make a true difference in children's futures.” - Lane Peus

Storyteller is extremely grateful for the support we receive from local students and would love to see the expansion of the Students for Storyteller program!

Rein Teen Volunteers

Rein Team Tour Volunteers celebrated their 13th year at Storyteller, this summer!  Each July, we look forward to their arrival, as they leave New New Jersey, and head to California! Four teens were assigned at each site. They were especially helpful with preparing for our 2019 Promotion.

On their last night, the Rein Teens invited us to their farewell BBQ out at UCSB.

As one of our Rein volunteers stated, "This was the best summer I have ever had. I loved the children, and has special relationships with each one. I don't want to leave, and plan on coming back, next year!"
