Collaborations

Our meaningful collaborations with local partners is an extremely important aspect of our holistic approach to help families break the cycle of poverty.

CALM:

Our long-standing collaboration with CALM focuses on social-emotional health; teaching children the social emotional, cognitive and academic skills they need to succeed in kindergarten and beyond, helping parents become active participants in their children's academic achievement, and getting the family the help they need to work through the trauma they have endured and toward a brighter future.

Channel Islands- Learning Stories:

We are collaborating with California State University Channel Islands in a research project to develop an innovative approach to observing and documenting the social emotional progress our children. This project will be accomplished with partnership through the sharing of written narrative observations, being written directly to the child and shared with the parents or guardians.

Santa Barbara Museum of Art

Storyteller has enjoyed a decade long collaboration with the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. Under the direction of Tina Villadolid, our artist in residence, children explore the difference between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional art by drawing and sculpting. The summer session program culminates with a showcase at the SBMA, where students, parents, and the community are invited to marvel at the creations of Storyteller's children.

Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics:

Storyteller and SBNC are working together to be able to identify toxic stress earlier in a child's life. Storyteller is working with the SBNC/CALM's  "Santa Barbara Resiliency Project."

Wilderness Youth Project:

Is a non-profit organization, fosters confidence, health, and a life-long love of learning for young people and families through active outdoor experiences and mentoring. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to have our preschool children experience the outdoors through weekly field trips with WYP's staff.
